Moses:

A good example of someone who overcame all obstacles can be seen in the story of Moses the prophet. Moses was born to a Hebrew or Israelite family at a time when all male Hebrew children were being murdered. Hope was lost to the Hebrew at the time as many Hebrew parents dreaded birthing a son only to have the son snatched from their arms. All hope was not lost to the Hebrew since a child was born to free them from the hands of terror.

This child was no other than Moses; at the time of his birth no Hebrew thought that Moses was going to be a great man let alone that he would survive to adulthood. It was through fate that Moses birth was hidden from the Egyptian authority, and it was through fate that Moses was adopted by an Egyptian princess and raised in the Egyptian royal household.

You can say that Moses was raised with a silver spoon, but things dramatically changed as he grew up. To protect a Hebrew man, Moses killed an Egyptian man and had to flee from everything he knew since he had done something wrong. The wilderness was not easy for Moses, but it is in the wilderness that he found his true purpose. God called upon him to help liberate the Hebrews from slavery.

Even with the call from God, Moses was at first skeptical since he was a stammer and did not think he could lead anyone. He also saw himself as an outcast and did not think anyone in the right mind would want to follow him. Moses however overcame his fear, recruited his brother Aaron as his spokesman and set out what was needed of him. Liberating the Hebrews was however not a smooth sail since Moses was faced with many trials from the Egyptian Pharaoh. Even with these tribulations, Moses still managed to liberate his people since he knew what his purpose was and would not sway from it.

You can learn many things from the story of Moses. You learn that determination and having faith in God and yourself can help you succeed. Moses thought of himself as a murderer and a traitor yet he still overcame his past to set out to achieve great things. The past should never hold or prevent you from setting on a more positive and fulfilling future in life.
